What Are Booklice and Why Do They Appear?
Booklice are tiny, pale insects that feed on mould, and their appearance almost always points to a damp or humid problem somewhere in the property.

A working port and its damp air
Brixham is a fishing port at the southern end of Torbay, and the harbour air is salty, damp and often still. Buildings close to the water can struggle to dry out, and stores, kitchens and back rooms are especially prone. Booklice settle wherever a faint mould is growing on paper, cardboard, dry goods or old wallpaper, and they need very little to get started. A cardboard box left on a cold floor can be enough.
