Pests rarely announce themselves politely. You might hear scratching in the loft at night, find droppings behind the cooker, notice a wasp nest forming under the eaves, or spot small beetles on a windowsill. Whatever has turned up, our job is to work out what it is, why it is there and how to deal with it properly. Calling early is always easier.
We cover wasps, rats, mice, fleas, bed bugs, ants, cockroaches, moths, carpet beetle and squirrels. The towns we serve are listed separately on this page, so choose yours and get in touch. If you are unsure what you are dealing with, describe what you have seen and we will help you narrow it down. We will explain what to expect.
The first visit is about finding out what is really going on. A technician will ask what you have noticed, then inspect the areas where the pest is likely to be living, feeding or getting in. That might mean the loft, the kitchen, under floors, outbuildings, bin stores or the outside of the property. Each pest has its own habits, so a clear picture of where it is living tells us what treatment will actually work. We look at the building, the likely entry points and the surrounding area.
Once we know the pest and how far the problem has spread, we explain it in plain language and set out a plan. The cost is agreed with you before any work starts, so there are no surprises afterwards. Treatment follows, with advice on what you can do to stop the problem returning, and a follow-up visit where the pest needs one. You are kept informed at each stage, and we are happy to answer questions before, during and after the visit.
Most infestations give clues long before they become serious. Droppings, gnaw marks, greasy smears along walls, shed skins, small bites, a musty smell, damaged food packaging, chewed fabric or a steady stream of insects in one spot are all worth taking seriously. Noises in the roof space at night usually mean something is nesting there. Write down what you have seen and when, because dates and locations help us build a clear picture.
Acting early makes treatment simpler and keeps damage down. Many pests breed quickly, and some carry germs onto food and work surfaces. Wasps are different, because the risk grows as the nest grows. If you are not sure what you are looking at, a photo or a short description is often enough for us to point you in the right direction. Spotting a problem in its first weeks usually means fewer visits and a smaller bill.
Devon has plenty of older housing, stone walls, thatched and slate roofs, farm buildings and outbuildings, and these often offer pests easy ways in and quiet places to hide. Coastal and moorland edges bring their own pressures, with damp, shelter and wildlife close to homes. Holiday lets and seasonal accommodation can also sit empty for weeks, which gives pests time to settle. Seasonal visitors and changing weather also affect which pests are active at any time of year.
We work with homeowners, tenants, landlords, letting agents, holiday let owners and local businesses such as cafes, pubs and guest houses. Each job is treated on its own merits. We look at the building, the pest and how you use the space, then recommend only what the situation calls for. That means you receive practical advice, not a package you did not need. We will always tell you honestly if a problem does not need a visit.
Look at the signs rather than the creature itself. Droppings, gnawing, smears, shed skins, bites and nesting material all point to different pests. If you cannot tell, tell us what you have seen and where. A technician will confirm it when they inspect, so you are not left guessing or paying for the wrong treatment.
Yes. After the inspection we explain what we have found, what we recommend and what it will cost. You agree to that before any treatment starts. If the situation changes, such as a second nest or a hidden entry point, we talk it through with you first rather than adding anything quietly.
Safety is part of every plan. Tell us about children, pets, food preparation areas and anyone with health concerns when you call. We choose methods to suit, place products where they are not accessible, and explain what to do and what to avoid afterwards, including how long to keep pets away from treated areas.
We can advise on it, and it is a normal part of our visits. Typical measures include sealing gaps, tidying clutter, storing food in sealed containers, fixing damp, keeping bins closed and cleaning thoroughly. Treatment removes the current problem. Prevention keeps it from returning, so we cover both.

“Very good service. Even came an additional time to be absolutely certain he had cleared up our mice problem.”
Richard Chesterton“We had a wasps nest in the ducting from the cooker hood to the extractor fan. Very tricky. Handled well and promptly by Stuart”
Gary Smith“Paul was open to our questions and knowledgeable about everything we asked. He laid traps for mice for us to check, himself checking them over a period of weeks til we were all sure there were no mice on the premises. A friendly and reliable service. Thankyou Stuart!”
