Signs of Bed Bugs and What to Do Next
Bed bugs are small, flat insects that hide close to where people sleep, and knowing the early signs helps you act before they spread through a home.

Bed bugs in a quiet country home can feel out of place, but they have nothing to do with the countryside. They hitch a lift on a suitcase, a borrowed sofa or a bargain bed frame. We provide bed bug removal in Longcombe for houses, cottages and rooms above or beside farm buildings, treating the sleeping areas properly.
The aim is simple: find where the bugs are living, treat those places, and come back to check. We explain each step in ordinary language and we do not make a fuss about how they arrived, because it is almost never anyone's fault.
Longcombe sits in the countryside close to Totnes, and many properties here have extra rooms, spare beds, outbuildings and furniture that gets passed between family and friends. That matters, because a bed bug problem can sit in a guest room for weeks before anyone is bitten, and then spread to the room next door.
So when we visit, we do not stop at the bed that was complained about. We check the guest rooms, the settee, any bunks or camp beds, and the joints and gaps in older timber where bugs like to tuck away. If there is a converted outbuilding used for sleeping, we look there too.
We treat the bed frame, mattress seams, headboard, bedside units, the edges of the carpet and the skirting around the room. Everything is applied where bugs actually shelter, rather than sprayed about at random. We will tell you which rooms to keep clear and for how long.
Before we arrive, bag and hot-wash bedding and curtains near the bed, and keep clean items sealed in bags. Clear the floor so we can reach the corners. If you have pets or livestock feed stored nearby, tell us when you call so we can plan the work around them in Longcombe.
We return after the first treatment to see whether anything is still moving and to treat again if needed. No one can promise a single visit will do everything, so the check matters. Afterwards, look over second-hand furniture before it comes indoors. We also cover Totnes and Dartmouth, and the TQ9 area around Longcombe.
They can, wherever people sleep or rest regularly. They feed on people, so they stay close to beds and sofas rather than to livestock areas. We would check any converted space used for sleeping as part of the visit.
It is possible, since bed bugs often travel in luggage. But bites can have other causes, so we confirm by looking for live bugs, skins and spotting before treating. We do not blame guests or anyone else for it.
Only what is near the bed and in the affected rooms. Bag it, wash hot and keep it sealed. Washing the whole house at once can spread bugs, so stick to the bedroom and tell us what you have already moved.
