Plymouth is a big city with a lot of roofs, and grey squirrels make use of them. If you can hear patter and scrabbling overhead in the morning or evening, or you have spotted chewed timber near the eaves, we can help with squirrel control anywhere in Plymouth.
We start with a survey to confirm what is living in the roof, then explain the options and agree the plan with you before we begin. The aim is to remove the squirrels and stop others moving in.
Plymouth has long rows of dense terraces, big estates and plenty of rental homes, and many of them share roof runs or have eaves with small gaps. Squirrels are good climbers and will test a loose tile, a gap behind a fascia or a vent cover until something gives. Once inside, they push through insulation and build a drey from leaves and twigs.
Because terraced roofs sit close together, a problem next door can easily spread, so it is worth acting early. If you are a landlord or managing agent with several properties, we can survey each one and note where the weak points are.
Grey squirrels are subject to legal rules, and our technician carries out the work lawfully. Depending on what the survey finds in Plymouth, we use humane live-capture and other lawful methods, set so that pets, children and other wildlife are kept safe. We check the traps as agreed and we do not leave animals unattended for long.
The visit does not end when the squirrels are gone. We locate the entry point, repair or cover it, and proof the roofline, including soffits, fascias and any gaps around pipes. That is what prevents a repeat, and we will point out anything else we spot that could let animals in.
Squirrels are not only a house problem in Plymouth. Shops, offices, warehouses and flats across PL1 to PL9 can have the same trouble with roof voids and flat roof edges, and gnawed cables are a worry for any business. We work discreetly and can arrange access to suit you. We also cover Ivybridge, Salcombe and Dartmouth, so if you are near the city rather than in it, just ask.
They are not usually aggressive, but they can cause damage. Chewed cables are a fire concern, and droppings and nesting material can spread germs and spoil insulation. We recommend dealing with them promptly and having the loft checked afterwards.
Yes. Terraces are very common here and squirrels can travel along the roofline between houses. We survey your roof, deal with the animals lawfully and proof the entry point, and we can advise if the neighbour's roof looks like the source.
We would not advise it. Sealing a hole with an animal inside can trap it, causing more damage as it tries to escape. It is much safer to have the animal removed first and then proof the gap properly.
“Very good service. Even came an additional time to be absolutely certain he had cleared up our mice problem.”
Richard Chesterton“We had a wasps nest in the ducting from the cooker hood to the extractor fan. Very tricky. Handled well and promptly by Stuart”
Gary Smith“Paul was open to our questions and knowledgeable about everything we asked. He laid traps for mice for us to check, himself checking them over a period of weeks til we were all sure there were no mice on the premises. A friendly and reliable service. Thankyou Stuart!”
